Can I change an employee's contract of employment?

You can amend an employee's contract when changes are agreed, such as promotions, pay increases, new duties or hours. For business driven changes, you must consult meaningfully, explain the reasons, explore alternatives and seek consent. Imposing changes without agreement, risks breaching contract, so always document discussions and obtain acceptance in writing.
